BOURNEMOUTH , who play in the sixth tier Regional Two South Central league, have aspirations to reach the within 10 years under new ownership.

Bournemouth were recently acquired by businessmen Richard Carr, Drew Mellor and Matthew Barker.

“I believe there’s no reason why that in seven-to-10 years from now, we couldn’t be playing against or in the Premiership, that is my goal,” said Carr.

“The plan, put simply, is to propel the club forward. It’s not going to happen overnight but there’s been a change already here, there’s a different feeling around the club now, we have a direction.”

Carr used to play for the club when he was younger and had previously invested his own money into the club.

“I had put money into the club on many occasions over the years,” Carr added. “When it became clear they were running into financial difficulty, I decided I wouldn’t put any more money in unless I had control over how money was spent.

“Myself and the other two owners have now started to turn the ship around and commercialise the club. I think the club has the potential to be quite special.”

Heavies, the veterans team of Richmond RFC, donated water coolers and an air conditioning unit to Poole hospital after long-time member Bill Price was taken in for treatment.

Bill, 82, was in Poole enjoying a long weekend but ended up in hospital after slipping on a kerb, fracturing his femur and breaking his hip.

The nurses on his ward had set up a Just Giving page to raise funds for a water cooling dispenser due to the hot weather and lack of air conditioning on the ward. Bill sent word to his team and within two days the target of £500 had been met. Better still, this money can be used elsewhere on the ward as another member Chris Banks had two water coolers delivered and a second, Mark Thornton, sent in a free-standing air conditioning unit.
