SECOND-ROW Max Eke was Harpenden’s hero as he bagged a hat-trick of tries to secure a nail-biting 22-20 victory over visitors Medway.
The home side could not have wished for a better start as winger Charlie Reynolds-West went over for the opening score after five minutes, Luke Boynes adding the extras.
But Medway proved to be no pushovers in spite of struggling near the foot of the table.
Although Eke dotted down either side of the interval, it was the visitors who led going into the closing stages courtesy of a penalty try.
