THERE was certainly plenty of value to be had at Putnoe Wood as beat their hosts Bedford Athletic.

Harry Parker got the visitors' first in just the fifth minute, but Bedford found their feet quickly – showing desire to move the ball as often as possible. That was rewarded when winger Josh Carnell went over, although that was swiftly matched by Bury skipper Matt Bursey, who went over after a powerful .

Both Bedford centres got over the whitewash in quick succession, through Steve Smith and Harry Sawford-Smith, to edge Bedford into a 17-14 lead. Full-back Stephen Woodhead then added a sublime solo effort, running almost the length of the pitch to further extend Bedford's lead, but Parker added his second to make it a three-point game – Bedford leading 24-21 at the interval.

Euan Kingdon got the scoring off and running after the drinks, rumbling over from a line-out and then adding a second after profiting from a defence-splitting break from Samir Kharbouch.

Smith and Bury fullback Charlie Reed traded tries before Reed turned provider for Jamie Oxborow to notch what would be a decisive score.
