The Forest of Dean side who finished fifth in last year’s National One found the Drovers, who posted a fourth place in the Welsh Premiership, a tough nut to crack at Church Bank.
Llandovery outscored them four tries to two and were in control for most of the game in a display that augurs well for the season ahead.
The two sides were fairly matched up front but the free flowing Llandovery backs were a class apart in adventure and invention under the influence of Adam Warren.
