Ampthill hosted Welsh Premiership Cup holders Newport at Dillingham Park and named 13 debutants in the match day 23.
Pre-game head coach Paul Turner said that while it would be great to get a win, this match was “about trying new systems, running what they had practiced in training and building chemistry in the whole playing unit”.
The mob started quick and on this evidence there is already some chemistry in the playing unit – Ampthill playing a more expansive brand of rugby than in previous seasons.
