TRING began their preseason fixtures with a hard-earned victory over East Anglian rivals Rochford Hundred in a tense affair at Colchester rugby club.
The match was played in three 25-minute periods with the opening stanza pointless as each side produced numerous handling errors due to ring rust.
In the second 25, Rochford scored the opening try through scrum-half Jack Daly as the nine sniped through the Tring defence that pushed up carelessly and left a gaping hole in behind.
