Allen Clarke has left his role as Ospreys head coach following the crushing 44-3 defeat to Saracens at the weekend.
Clarke ends an 18-month tenure in charge at the Liberty Stadium amid an injury crisis which has dogged the region this season.
In addition to the likes of Gareth Anscombe, Cory Allen, Luke Morgan and Sam Parry being sidelined, Ospreys continue to be without the services of World Cup trio Alun Wyn Jones, George North and Justin Tipuric.
It has led to some dire results for Clarke to contend with, including the 16-14 loss to the Southern Kings earlier this month that the former Ireland hooker described as a ‘dark period’ for the club.
As the sole representation for the Welsh regions in the Champions Cup, the team’s run of defeats in the PRO14 couldn’t be reversed in Europe. Prior to their trip to Allianz Park, the Ospreys went down 32-13 to Munster in Round One.
After time as forwards coach, Clarke was promoted to the top job in Ospreylia in the days that followed the departure of Steve Tandy to the Waratahs in Super Rugby.
