Gloucester have completed the signing of Northampton Saints tighthead prop Jamal Ford-Robinson for the 2019-20 season.
The Premiership play-off chasers have been busier on the re-signing of their current stars to new deals, with Ford-Robinson joining Joe Simpson in moving to Kingsholm next season.
Gloucester director of rugby David Humphreys said: “Having strength in depth in all positions throughout the squad is vital for any team to be successful. And it’s important that we have a group of props who are all capable of performing at the highest level.
“Jamal certainly meets those requirements. He’s a proven force at Premiership level and has been involved with the England set-up in the past. As well as being strong in the set-piece, he’s also mobile and good with ball in hand which will suit the way we like to play the game.
“His arrival will complement our existing front row forwards, and we’re happy with how that area of the squad is shaping up for next season as they will all have a role to play.”
Ford-Robinson made an instant impact for Saints upon his arrival from Bristol Bears in 2017, making 23 appearances, but injuries have curtailed his development at Franklin’s Gardens.
After coming through Leicester‘s academy, the front-row forward left to play in National One for Cambridge where his form earned him a move to Cornish Pirates in 2014.
Having spent time on loan this season at Coventry in the Championship, Saints director of rugby Chris Boyd wished Ford-Robinson well in his future.
“Jamal remains focused on giving his best for the Club for the remainder of this season, and everyone at Saints wishes him well for the future,” Boyd said.
