Eight is great for wind-assisted Newport

THE TIE of of the round was to be found in Shropshire, where Newport ran in eight tries on their way to a resounding 59-26 victory over visitors Sandbach.
It was Jake Leonard and Sam Evans who led the way for Salop as they bagged a brace of tries each while Monty Maule, Sam Brown, Rhys Morgan and Dave Manning also crossed the whitewash.
It surely wasn’t a day for defending and Sandbach made the most of it with some good pressure in the first half with the wind behind them.
