THE power of Aberavon loosehead prop Rowan Jenkins turned the game in his side’s favour and allowed them to continue their chase of Premiership leaders Cardiff.
Victory at Rodney Parade came courtesy of a penalty try awarded by referee Ben Breakspear on the hour mark. Moments earlier Newport tighthead prop Tom Piper had seen yellow for collapsing under the strain imposed by Jenkins.
That brought Garin Harris onto the field as his replacement and three scrums later Jenkins had him in trouble. The scrum went down again and the penalty try was awarded.
