BOTH sides put in a creditable performance but it was Pirates who took the spoils in this Cornish derby.

Pirates played down the slope first half and it was a credit to the Redruth defence that it took the visitors 23 minutes to trouble the scoreboard.

Javier Rojas Alvarez crossed for the first try, which he converted himself, but he couldn't better Rory Parrata's effort moments later.

National 2 South side Redruth did well to restrict the outfit to a 12-0 scoreline at half-time.

Pirates made wholesale changes at half-time leading to a much more direct approach, notably from centre Callum Patterson and Will Cargill.

Cargill's kick ahead bounced wickedly for Alex O'Meara to capitalise and score before former Red, Robin Wedlake scored two tries out wide either side of a Matt Bolwell effort. Cargill converted two of them to complete the scoring.
