A DEBUT try from Mike Ayrton set the tone for Bishop’s Stortford to begin their preparations for the new season with a bang by beating Old Albanian 38-0.

Ayrton opened proceedings by supporting a break from back three partner Nick Hankin, who fed the wing to score after 11 minutes.

Openside flanker Dan Elsom then forced the turnover to flip the pressure on the Old Albanian defence, as a looping box-kick from Sam Coleman sent them back-peddling and for Hankin to collect the ball to touch down.

The visiting Stortford extended their lead shortly before the break with the try of the half courtesy of debutant Tom Lewis.

The former starlet carrying as a lock should by dragging three defenders over the tryline.

At 19-0, more tries followed after the break for tighthead Najee Mundicha, second row James Apperley and wing Joss Linney.
