Saints have signed emerging fly-half James Grayson to his first professional contract.
The 20-year-old’s breakthrough to the first-team over the past 12 months has delivered an element of deja vu at Franklin’s Gardens where his father, Paul, holds the club’s record for most points.
The Under-20 star has penned a deal until 2021 and has played a key role in the club’s A-League success over the past two seasons.
With the Grayson bloodline set to energise the Saints backline once again, director of Chris Boyd offered his thoughts on a smart bit of recruitment by the club.
James is a young player with heaps of talent and an excellent work ethic to make the most of his ability,” said Boyd.
“We’re thrilled James has bought into the vision for the future here at Franklin’s Gardens and I’m excited to see him continue to grow in a Black, Green and Gold jersey.”
For Grayson, he explained how the opportunity will allow him to play for a club he has developed a deep affection for.
“Northampton is my home and Saints is the club I’ve supported all my life, so naturally I’m ecstatic to be signing,” said Grayson, who
“The club have supported my development throughout my junior career and I’ve never imagined playing anywhere else.
“We’re going through an exciting period of change at Franklin’s Gardens at the moment and I’m certain that Northampton is the best place for me to grow as a player – we’ve got a great environment here and I’m learning so much from the coaches and senior players.”
