BARNSTAPLE are heading into the South West Premier play-offs after sealing second place following a 51-17 victory at Old Patesians. Play-off chasing rivals Maidenhead suffered a shock 20-19 home defeat by bottom five side Bracknell meaning that they can’t catch Barnstaple on the final day next week.
Kicker Jake Murphy got Barnstaple onto the scoresheet after 19 minutes before Luke Berry ran over the first try four minutes later.
Basement side Old Patesians didn’t let the promotion hopefuls have everything their own way and replied to make it 15-7 at half-time....
