PREVIEW v Quins Today. Kick-off 2.30pm, Rodney Parade

NEWPORT head coach Craig Warlow will be hoping his side are more like the team that won at two matches ago than the side that went down to a heavy defeat at in their last outing when they host Carmarthen Quins at Rodney Parade today.

The Black & Ambers have been the Principality Premiership’s own Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde this season, yet still found themselves in the top half of the table heading into the weekend’s round of fixtures – locked on 41 points with Llandovery and Drovers only three points clear of Quins in ninth.

“We’ve only had five home games to date this season and all of our away matches have been tough”, said Warlow.

“Although we are halfway through the season, I don’t think the table is a perfect indication of where most teams are in the league.

“Pretty much everything went wrong for us at Llandovery last weekend and everyone knows we need a response on Sunday. There is pressure to produce a much better performance and I’m comfortable with that.”

The Quins went down 29- 12 when they hosted Newport on the opening day of the season and have lost their last four matches, but they will have recruit Clayton Blommetjies at full-back.

Warlow’s men were beaten 43-10 at Llandovery last weekend – a week after winning at the home of the reigning champions for the second season in a row.
