Wimbledon grow lead as Westcliff falter

WIMBLEDON extended their lead at the top of the table following a 35-28 win at home to Sidcup.

Chris York, Matt Gilbert, Kane Albomi, Alex Campbell and Toby White were the try scorers – all converted by Will Taylor.

Charlie Hopkins, Louis Keeley, and Jon West went in for the visitors, Sam Evans successful with three penalties and a conversion with James Poland slotting one.

slip back going down by the odd point 18-17 away at Bedford Athletic, James Wallace and Stephen Woodhead crossed for the home side but two penalties and a conversion from Steve Smith did the damage.

Westcliff beat the home side on the try count, running in three tries through Seb Reynolds, Jim Smith and Bill Morant with Jack Jones adding one conversion.

Sutton and Epsom close the gap on Westcliff following a bonus point 38- 24 win at home to Brentwood.

The home side rattled in six tries through Kyren Guma and George London, who both took a brace, Jacob Bushnell and Chris while Sam Hurley contributing four conversions. Brentford crossed for three tries all converted by Bradley Burr, who also added a penalty.

Tring took the honours 69-27 at home to Guildford in a nine-try romp at Cow Lane. Ben Criddle and Charlie Gore-Lambourne got two each while Zak Michaski, Tom Newton, Gary Andrews Oliver O’Gorman and Jonathan Morgan all crossed.

Despite the heavy defeat, Guildford still managed a try bonus through Calum Jordan with two, Tudor Forbes and Jordan Alexander.

CS Stags were 51-7 winners at home to Shelford who are still without a win in the campaign.

Josh Forster led the charge with four tries, followed by Pumalo Banda with two, Adam Nixon, Ryan Martin and Zac Stamp crossing for one each, Josh Knight on target with three conversions.

Hertford were 15-18 victors away to through tries from James Kinsley and Harry Morgan with Ben Lloyd slotting over eight points.

Chingford got the better of Tunbridge Wells 23-21 at Lea Valley.
