Cook stays steady to frustrate Phoenix

SCUNTHORPE and Newport Salop both maintained their 100 per cent records as they recorded a fourth win from four, but Scunthorpe left it late to beat Doncaster Phoenix 27-26.
Doncaster led 12-3 at halftime and, although Oliver Cole’s try edged Scunthorpe ahead, two further Phoenix tries allowed them to open up a 26-12 lead.
Scunthorpe wouldn’t be denied though, as Dave Garbutt’s double brought them back within six.
And, when Josh Bird crossed, Paul Cook’s conversion allowed the visitors to snatch victory.
