KYLE Evans came off the bench and claimed a lastminute try as Merthyr came from behind to win.
New Cardiff signing Steffan Jones was in superb form as he kicked six penalties, and that looked enough to hand the hosts victory until Evans’ late intervention. The opening ten minutes were dominated by Merthyr, but a rare attack saw Cardiff open the scoring from the boot of former Bedwas fly-half Jones.
Craig Locke had to be replaced by Kristian Smith and, with Merthyr rattled, Cardiff took advantage with another Jones penalty. A third penalty from Jones was soon tucked away.
