They led through two Gareth Thompson penalties but Swansea hit back when James Davies sent a flip pass wide to Andrew Claypole, who scored.
Cardiff retook the lead in style when Dan Fish and James Beal combined for Corey Howells to show acrobatic skills to score.
Cardiff struck again when Howells ran riot in midfield to send Thompson racing clear.
Two Davies penalties were sandwiched by a try for Lewis Jones, who charged down a clearance kick to score.
