TWO penalty tries helped Carmarthen Quins to a last-gasp victory against Swansea in a thriller at Carmarthen Park.

The hosts started strongly, with their pack well on top, and they scored an early penalty try from five metres.

Minutes later, the visitors scored their first try when Andrew Claypole made good yards and John Rhys Williams burst through to score.

Quins restored their ten-point advantage when Morgan Griffiths raced downfield after picking up a loose kick. Elis Lloyd provided good support and handed a scoring pass to Josh Batcup.

A yellow card followed for the Quins – this time it was former All White Jack Wilson, who was given his marching orders for killing the ball, and Davies scored a penalty.

With just seven minutes left, Claythorpe put Swansea ahead.

But with the clock ticking away, Quins’ pack showed their metal as the forwards got to work from five metres and there was no stopping them as they claimed a second penalty try to seal victory.
