LLANELLI kicked off their season with a thumping victory over West rivals Carmarthen Quins. Flying wing Ryan Conbeer set pulses racing with a pair of well taken tries to add to scores from backthree colleagues Ashley Evans and Kalum Evans.

Llanelli got their Principality season off to a flying start in the first minute when Wales Under-20 wing Conbeer showed his electric pace to beat the defence and score.

The continued to showcase their attacking prowess five minutes later when opposite wing Ashley Evans rounded his man to score in the corner.

New head coach Phil Davies only introduced himself to his charges this week, but his ideas seemed to be having an immediate effect when full-back Evans went over to complete a hat-trick for the exciting back-three.

The stunned Quins could only conjure a Steff Marshall penalty in the opening half to make it 17-3 at the break.

Carmarthen struck first after the break thanks to hooker Rhodri Clancy, who muscled over from closerange. But Conbeer, who has been tipped to make an impact for Scarlets, made sure the home crowd left with smiles on their faces.

The flying wing received the ball and neatly beat his man before racing home to score the bonus-point try. Ilan Hughes landed the conversion of the game to rounnd off a 24-8 victory.
