Lancashire take crown off Surrey

SURREY’S hopes of winning consecutive Division One finals in the Gill Burns County Championship ended with a 25-13 defeat to Lancashire at Richmond.
Surrey dominated the early exchanges but could not turn possession into points. Instead, two longrange tries from outside centre Vanessa Temple and full-back Igemi Ekoku gave advantage to Lancashire.
Replacement winger Rowanne Smalley added a third try from 50 metres to make it 19-3.
Lancashire then slowed the pace, opting to clear their lines rather than run from deep, and two further penalties courtesy of flyhalf Beth Stott put the game...
