Six Nations endures Wretched Saturday

GIVEN the Six Nations’ unfailing capacity to hype up its final round as Super Saturday, last weekend’s double-header at Murrayfield and Twickenham can be safely billed as Wretched Saturday. In their elusive quest for hearts and minds, rarely can the game have inflicted as much friendly fire upon itself.
On three separate occasions during the second half at a packed Edinburgh, the attendance increased by 28. Regrettably they were meant to be playing instead of being reduced to a standstill while one from each side indulged in the dreaded aerial ping-pong.
