Norton never forgot his friend Murdoch

Tane Norton never lost sight of one image from his first UK tour as an All Black, that of Keith Murdoch saying goodbye on the steps of a coach taking the New Zealand squad from Cardiff to Birmingham.
The image from a winter Monday morning more than 50 years ago remained frozen in Norton’s mind. “We had no idea that Keith was being sent home,” Norton said many years later. “We just thought we’d see him at the next stop later in the day.”
