So Rob Baxter wishes to obliterate the deterrent effect of the red card by allowing sent-off players to be replaced, thereby saving matches from being ‘destroyed’ by the numerical imbalance.
How ironic that Exeter’s respected director of rugby should say so hot on the heels of his club’s fortuitous winning draw against Clermont in the Champions Cup. How they coped with Zach Mercer’s unjust dismissal ridiculed the theory that 15 v 14 results in a no-contest.
