When it comes to Welshmen performing hat-tricks on the international stage, Tommy Cooper could claim to have outscored John Charles, Ian Rush and Gareth Bale combined… just like that.
The comedian used a bewildering range of headgear in his act and yet for all his funny business even Cooper would touch his red fez in deference to the hat-trick pulled off by Derek Quinnell, one which grows ever more astounding with the passage of time.
What he began working on 50 years ago has not been matched since and probably never will. He remains the only British or Irish player to beat the All Blacks ...
