‘BATHRugby’, the headline on the club’s website proclaimed, ‘announces improved financial performance for the 2015-16 financial year.’ At face value it seemed a source of good news – an English Premiership club earning enough money to make ends meet instead of losing it hand over fist.
True, there had been an improvement, the club claiming a 33 per cent reduction of the net loss on the previous season – from £1.8m down to £1.2m. Someone else could have applied a different spin and come up with an equally accurate headline – Bath&rs...
