Paul Rees reports on how World Rugby's investment below decks has started to make a difference

THE Adelaide Oval is arguably the most scenic venue to stage a World Cup match. Located in parklands a short walk from the city centre, a ground associated principally with cricket and Australian Rules was used for a weekend in 2003. The organisers could have used the cricket scoreboard for the first match staged at what was the home of Donald Bradman. Someone strolling into the ground at the final whistle could have thought it was the lunch break with the home team 142-0.
