It was surprising that neither of England’s U20 world champion props, Asher Opoku-Fordjour (Sale) or Afolabi Fasogbon (Gloucester), were in the England training squad going to Portugal ahead of the autumn series.
They have attracted attention after starting for their clubs this season, although both are now playing tight-head, with Opoku-Fordjour – outstanding at loosehead for the U20s – moving across the scrum for Sale.
Given England’s long-standing scrum shortcomings, these 20-year-old props should be fast-tracked by Steve Borthwick.
