Portugal face multiple champions Georgia in the Rugby Europe final at the Stade Jean Bouin in Paris today, and the team that they field will bear zero resemblance to the one they put out against England A at Welford Road on February 25.
Portugal lit up the 2023 World Cup, but the makeshift side that was beaten 91-5 by George Skivington’s Red Rose A team was an all-amateur selection.
The Portuguese were not only missing their 40 top ranked players, but were also denied some of the best of the rest because a domestic club semi-final took place on the same day.
