THE recent observation by CVC that rugby union is too fragmented on the broadcast and commercial fronts, and that its jigsaw puzzle of tournaments and rights has to be brought under one roof in order to prosper, is food for thought.
The roof that private equity firm CVC are talking about is their own – however, I am not convinced they have the expertise to know which rugby union tournament formats are good, and which are turkeys.
