We have now discovered that Eddie Jones was almost certainly paid the equivalent of a full year’s £750,000 salary in a severance package negotiated with his line boss, RFU chief executive Bill Sweeney.
This means Jones departed with £1.5m in RFU revenue for his last 12 months as England head coach, a period in which England won only five of their 12 Tests, including a second successive Six Nations in which they lost three of their five games.
