The RFU is in a mess over international player eligibility, because its rules dictate that rising England stars Jack Willis (Toulouse), Henry Arundell (Racing 92), Joe Marchant (Stade Francais), and David Ribbans (Toulon) will be unavailable for selection after the World Cup.
The four French-based players were picked by Steve Borthwick in this week’s World Cup squad thanks to a tournament waiver, with three of them yet to play for their new Top 14 clubs.
