At at time when the Community game in England needs all the help it can get, we are faced with one RFU fiasco after another.
Hot on the heels of the ‘below the belt’ tackle edict which had grass-roots clubs up in arms, and forced the governing body into a humiliating climbdown, we have the Papa Johns Cup crisis.
Last weekend saw the launch of a cup competition, sponsored by the American pizza company, which is aimed at engaging English community clubs from Levels 5 to 10 in an end-of-season jamboree after the completion of the leagues.
