Jaden Hendrikse’s red card just after half-time killed this match – after that the Lions just ran riot. Up until that point, it had been a hugely frustrating performance by the Lions and in my book it is a step back for Warren Gatland’s side.
This Sharks team was four or five levels below where the Springboks will be. A full-bore Lions training match would have provided a tougher match. While the scoreboard looked close in the first-half, the match as a contest was not, with the Lions managing to concede first-half tries because of unforced errors.
