"No story lives unless someone wants to listen.” So said J KRowling, who knows a thing or two about storytelling: the best part of a billion things, if current estimates of her bank balance can be read as non-fiction rather than fantasy. She might have added that if you give your audience only half a tale rather than the whole saga, they will turn a deaf ear, a blind eye, and find something else to do.
