For the last five minutes of the game and four points down they launched an incredible 36 phase length of the field attack in an attempt to garner the try they needed and frankly only New Zealand would ever show the discipline to defend against such a sustained onslaught.
It was remarkable in every way, the script writers demanded a winning try, but the bottom line, alas, is that Ireland have again failed to make a World Cup semi-final.
