AUSTRALIAN rugby will always be measured against that of their closest neighbours – which unluckily for them happens to be New Zealand.
Their fortune did not change in yesterday’s Bledisloe Cup opener when they went down 33-25 at Eden Park and it left Australia to contemplate a landslide of statistics that suggest they are slowly being buried as a Rugby Union nation by the All Blacks.
Try these for size. They have not won a Test against the All Blacks on New Zealand soil for 20 years, they have not won at Eden Park for 36 years, and the Wallabies have not won the Bledisloe Cup for 18 years.
