BEN Tameifuna, a big old unit if ever there was one, threw his weight around to jarring effect during Bordeaux’s barrage win over Clermont, prompting Johnnie Beattie on Premier Sports to make a reasonable observation.
The Scot who followed his father into the national back row volunteered the opinion that the 23 stone Tongan had to be ‘worth his weight in gold’. At close of business the other night, one kilo of the precious metal was valued at £41,061.90p.
Converting every last ounce of Tameifuna into gold would therefore work out at close to £6m – £5,995,037.40 to be exact.
