THOSE of us who have been writing about Antoine Dupont for longer than five minutes were resolutely unflabbered when, despite a slightly scruffy performance, he played a significant role in securing another European title for Toulouse.
Yet it took an old colleague to hit the nail on the head. “He’s Gareth Edwards, isn’t he?” he said.“Powerful in the chest and bum department, lightning quick reflexes, completely ruthless. You can see it in his eyes.”
If Dupont lives up to that billing, they can give the World Cup to France without going to the trouble of playing it.
