Staples deserved some TMO justice

SOMETIMES it can be disconcerting to dig out footage of past games before the TMO existed. Different times, different values but still a tad alarming.
My abiding memory of the only other time Scotland have played Ireland in the World Cup – before today’s match in Japan – was in 1991 when Jim Staples got knocked out cold trying to take a high ball as Ireland grimly defended a 15-9 lead at Murrayfield.
