Shane Lewis-Hughes puts his faith in the finger of fate…

For more than 60 years, Red Conway stood in a class all on his own: the only international player to undergo amputation by way of saving his career.
Just as the All Black flanker sacrificed a troublesome finger, so another back row forward has done likewise.
Shane Lewis-Hughes is recovering from the removal of the fourth finger of his right hand and looking forward to the novel experience of playing without ‘the unbearable pain’ from the missing digit.
He plans to be back in action next month, an ounce or two lighter but better equipped for the fight to regain his Wales place.
