Decalmer score is hosts’ killer blow

BOURNVILLE produced a performance of two distinct halves as they returned to winning ways in this frenetic Midlands derby.

Having gifted Hinckley 12 points in an error-strewn first-half display, Bournville were a transformed side after the break and eased to victory with 24 unanswered points in a 20-minute period in which they were sharp and clinical.

The try bonus point eluded Bournville but, having surrendered their unbeaten home record last week, the win was everything.

Hinckley went home empty-handed and have yet to win on the road this season, but they will take encouragement from the work of their big pack in the set-piece and the way they took their limited scoring opportunities.

Sam Read rounded off an interception effort for the opener and -half Evan Carey rewarded a period of sustained pressure.

But Bournville played some composed and expansive after the break, with centre Joe Jenkins, wing Nathan Decalmer and full-back Owen Williams dotting down.

Decalmer’s was the most spectacular and decisive as Hinckley were pushing hard when he intercepted inside his own 22 and raced the length of the pitch.
