PREMIERSHIP chiefs have rushed to defend their handling of the Phil Morrow situation which caused a split among clubs.
And Premiership Rugby claimed the much-heralded Professional Game Partnership had not fallen at the first hurdle because of the row.
Morrow, the general manager of Saracens, was wanted by England boss Steve Borthwick to replace Aled Walters, who has decamped to Ireland, as performance head. The Premiership board came up with the idea of Morrow job-sharing, between England and Sarries but clubs voted against that 7-3.
