LYMM maintained their unbeaten start to the season by the width of a post in a thriller at Tigers’ Dore Moor.

The visitors looked in charge at 15-28 ahead with just six minutes remaining and the try bonus secured.

But a late surge from the hosts saw Louis Townsend force his way over. With the last play of the game, James Norman then crossed in the corner to reduce the deficit to just one point.

Will Baker stepped up to seal a remarkable comeback, but his conversion from wide on the right struck the upright and stayed out.

In an evenly contested first period Lymm struck first when great turnover ball from Ollie Higginson fed Harry Martin for the score.

The hosts went ahead on the half-hour mark. Ben Manderfield’s strength saw him surge over for a converted try. An penalty increased the lead.

Two Tom Shard penalties late in the half gave the visitors an 1011 interval advantage.

Tigers looked sharp after the restart and were rewarded with a Jamie Broadley try.

Midway through the half the visitors hit their stride and three tries from Martin, Sam Wadsworth and James Pitcher provided a 13-point buffer that proved just enough.
