Tries galore in win for in-form Bury

Bury St Ed’s…………. 61

Oxford H……………….33

BURY began their home campaign with a very big win.

Bury started at a rate of knots, with Elliott McPhun scoring after two minutes, with Ben Penfold converting, before Calvin Mitchell adding a second moments later.

After a series of penalties from both teams, Ruaraidh Williams crashed over near the posts, and Penfold converted to make it 21-0.

McPhun then found himself in space to give Aidan Shortfall a simple try.

Quins found themselves down to 14 men and William Metcalfe scored.

Bury were then handed a yellow card, and Quins took full advantage with a Willo Bicknell try, converted by Ewan Fox to make it 35-7 at the break. Quins began the second half on the front foot, with James Roberts scoring.

Bury hit back with a Will Affleck try, before Metcalfe grabbed his second of the day.

Quins profited from some slack Bury play for Joseph Piggott to smash his way over.

Henri Lavin was the next to cross, but Quins gained a bonus-point try through Anatunaisa Rasourasou before Affleck finished off from 60m, before Quins hit back through Harry Burn, Fox converting.
