Hinckley……………… 17 Cinderford…………… 19
TWO desperate sides were fighting for their first win of the season, and played out a physical battle at Leicester Road, with the visitors eventually taking the four points.
The first half saw all the seasons in one, with rain, lightning wind and sun.
And it was the visiting pack who got on top and in doing so gave themselves nine points via three penalties from Luke McMahon.
Hinckley had a couple of chances to get on the scoreboard, but loose handling on both occasions ended up costing them dear.
The first points of the second half we nt to Hinckley through a Rory Vowles penalty after the home side controlled the opening part of the half.
And after 50 minutes Josh Kent finished powerfully from short range, which brought the game back to two points.
A similar finish from Oli Bee with 15 minutes to go, with both tries converted by Vowles, then made the home sides look the favourites to win.
But as the rain came down the Cinderford pack managed to wrestle the game back,
As a result, a late try from Nathan Taylor ending up breaking the home side’s hearts, with a excellent conversion from McMahon nudging his side ahead.
And despite some late drama with Hinckley pressing in the visitors 22, Cinderford held firm.
