BOURNVILLE banked their second home bonus-point win of the season but made hard work of subduing a travel-weary Redruth.

The kick-off had to be put back by an hour because Redruth had been stuck in traffic on the M5 and they arrived just 15 minutes before the scheduled start.

The long delay appeared to affect Bournville who took a while to settle and, for the second home match running, struggled to convert a half-time lead into a more substantial win.

But they had the try bonus point safely wrapped up after 35 minutes and ended up winning the try count 6-3 with only an off-day from kicker Freddie Morgan preventing Bournville from recording a more emphatic win.

Redruth contributed to an open and entertaining contest but made the long trip home empty-handed despite laying siege to the home line in the dying seconds with thunder and lightning providing a dramatic backcloth.

Bournville were always dangerous in attack with the experienced Rob Knox scoring a brace of tries, but they undid some of their good work with a heavy penalty count in the second half which included the sin-binning of Nick Murphy for a key ten-minute period.
