Toshiba Brave Lupus shocked Saitama Panasonic Wild Knights to secure their first Japan Rugby Division One title for 14 years with a 24-20 win.
Lupus’ win is undoubtedly an upset given that the Wild Knights were unbeaten in the league season and have won two of the last three Division One titles, as well as their last nine games against Lupus. However, it is heartbreak in the final for them yet again, with the loss giving them a second runners up medal in a row and denying them a record seventh professional Japanese league title.
