Living with Lions, the film released off the back of the compelling British and Irish tour of South Africa in 1997, set the standard for fly-on-the-wall rugby documentaries. It was raw, funny, tense, warm, intimate, compassionate and dramatic, often all at once. Will it ever be surpassed?
Probably not, if the much talked-about Six Nations series on Netflix is any guide. This latest blast of behind-thescenes access is not quite a pig in a poke, but on the evidence of the first four episodes, it would be stretching a point to credit the production team with bringing home the bacon.
